Co-Founders & Managing Editors

Ryan Bell has been a pastor since 1994 and served three congregations before becoming Senior Pastor of Hollywood Seventh-day Adventist Church in June 2005. In 2000 he received his Master of Divinity degree from Andrews University and in 2010 his Doctor of Ministry at Fuller Theological Seminary. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Interreligious Council of Southern California, the advisory board of the Guibord Center: Religion Inside Out and as a member of the Abrahamic Faiths Peacemaking Initiative. Bell is a clergy leader with LA Voice/PICO and writes for a wide range of publications, including The Huffington Post. Ryan lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Elysabeth, and two daughters, Zoe and Sophie.

Syd Shook has worked cross-culturally in international community development as Co-Director of Communityfor, a Community of Faith FBO, since 2008 when she attended her first Amahoro Africa Gathering in Rwanda. In 2007 she earned her BA from The University of Oklahoma with a degree in Linguistics and her certificate in community-based development from Colorado State’s International Institute for Sustainable Development in partnership with Village Earth. She currently works as an assistant pastor at Hollywood Adventist Church and as a freelance actor. She is a student at Fuller Theological Seminary  and a contributing editor for Molossus. She lives Los Angeles with her husband David and her chihuahua Okie Doke.

Jeff Gang is a pastor at Crosswalk Church in Redlands, California, where he has been working for six years to shape a  missional conversation in suburban Los Angeles. He is a devoted family man and a two-time Ironman triathlete.

Kelley Johnson-Nikondeha is co-director of Amahoro Africa and international staff member of Community of Faith with her husband Claude. She’s a thinker, connector, advocate, avid reader and mother of two beautiful children. Kelley lives between Arizona and Burundi.  She is a regular contributor to SheLoves Magazine as well as a lover of hand-written letters, home-made pesto and anything written by Walter Brueggemann.

Brian D. McLaren is an author, speaker, activist, and public theologian. A former college English teacher and pastor, he is an ecumenical global networker among innovative Christian leaders. He has written more than a dozen books including, most recently, A New Kind of Christianity and Naked Spirituality.

Ron Osborn is a doctoral candidate in the Program in Politics and International Relations at the University of Southern California.  His research deals with the intersection of politics, violence, and religion.  The son of Christian missionaries, he has lived for more than half of his life outside of the United States, including in Asia, Africa, and Europe.  He is the author of Anarchy and Apocalypse: Essays on Faith, Violence, and Theodicy.
